About me

My stick family created at widdlytinks.com

Welcome!

My real name is Liesl and I live in the lovely city of Melbourne in the south east of Australia.

My main job these days is as a stay-at-home mum to two rowdy boys Argy and Bargy (not their real names!), who are 5 years and 4 years respectively. We spend much of our days admiring diggers, rubbish trucks and fire engines.

To counterbalance our focus on heavy earth-moving and pivotally-articulated vehicles, I took my very first dressmaking lessons in 2008. I've since become very fond of sewing and experimenting with new crafts. My dream is to one day sell handmade children's trousers online. (Mr Hoppo Bumpo would certainly be thankful if I did something with the 40 metres of corduroy that I have accumulated.)

Although primarily a craft blog, I also write about the exploits of my two small boys; my lazy cooking habits; a not-so-green garden; food allergies; an adopted cat (which has taken a set against my shoes);and the perils of decorating children's birthday cakes.

In my previous life I worked in the corporate world as a Training & Development manager.

Thank you very much for taking the time to drop by. I am very grateful for all my visitors. I have met the loveliest people - both online and in real-life - though this blog.

  1. Love your blog, ESPECIALLY love your name and sorta love the country you're from! I'm also a Liesl (exact same spelling) - tell me, was your mother like mine - obsessed with the Sound of Music? I'm originally from South Africa, living in New Zealand and about to change my name to Lisa so that the locals can understand me when I introduce myself.

But really, the main focus of me leaving a comment is to say that your blog is awesome! THANKS!

  2. Hi Liesl,
Thought I would drop by and take a peek... very modest you are (some things never change!) I love the site and will be back to have a more comprehensive look at a later stage when I have more time to actually make use of it!!
Your long lost friend (newly found again),
