Hoppo Bumpo (n): A children's game. Played by folding one's arms and hopping on one leg. Aim is to bump opponents, so that they lose their balance. Last person standing wins.

My creative space



I am joining in with Thursday's My Creative Space at Kootoyoo.

Clockwise from left:
  • Circular knitting loom

  • Yarn - Moda Vera Flirt in Redmix

  • Crochet hook

  • Start of a narrow scarf

This is the second knitting project that I have started in a month. The other lies abandoned in a corner. There was just too much tension between us, if you know what I mean?

I had a hunch that I might do a little better with a knitting loom. Needles were exasperating and frankly, fraught with danger (not altogether dissimilar to my experience with stocks when I learnt to ski).

This time my knitting looks more regular and the tension is nice and even. I'm sold. Now all I need to do is work out how to fit a 36 peg circular loom in a handbag.



And here, in another corner of my creative space, is the contents of a special parcel that arrived today. The delightful and very generous Gina of Clutterpunk sent a beautiful handmade H1N1 Swiney (wrapped in these fabulous pieces of fabric). Swiney is destined for a close rellie - the perfect gift for the virologist who has everything!

    Aw, glad to see Swiney arrived safely. Do you know, I had the parcel ready to post (with postage paid and all) and carried it around with me all of last Friday, then all over the long weekend (in which I travelled to Sydney!!), before finally posting it on late Tuesday (Gee, it must be because the nearest postbox is a whole BLOCK AWAY). Anyway, don't tell the folk from Sydney, they'll be outraged that I took H1N1 into NSW!!
    Hope your Dad enjoys Swiney. Apparently, he's quite the head honcho!

    Haven't seen a circular loom like that before.. is it faster than regular knitting and does it perform magic tricks??!! Just interested, really, I always like seeing different things...

    Hahaha LOVE the H1N1! Have you seen http://www.giantmicrobes.com/ ? It has been the source of many presents for many of my science friends. I used to love knitting looms when I was growing up, but could never work out what to do with all of my knitted tubes... (there were lots!)
