A rose by any other name ...

... would still be a rose. So I think we all know what these self-sown floral beauties really are.

They look so pretty in the bright spring sunshine, it seems wrong to go pull them out. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it).

  1. I agree - a bit of colour never hurt anyone.

  2. How something so pretty be a noxious weed?

  3. An old adage I love: the difference between a flower and a weed is a judgement. x

  4. My old neighbors in Hawaii HATED me...I had these swaths of cascading vines covered in purple blossoms draped over my fence. Beautiful! But, technically, it was a weed. They hated me. :p

  5. I recently helped my friend Oscar (two and a half) to collect dandelion clocks to put in a vase. He knows a flower when he sees one.

  6. I had a friend who loved her wandering jew, one of the most noxious weeds in Victoria, that grew rampantly in her backyard. She said it had such pretty flowers and was so good at keeping the other weeds out...!!!

But yes, I always hate it when my dad gets out the lawnmower on the dandelions and little daiseys (although he has permission to get savage on the onion weed)

  9. Yes, I have to admit I have the same beauties (and more!) in my garden. I agree with you - especially little lawn daisies.

  10. We leave ours in! We have lots of the yellow oxalis (sp?) and a white version as well. It looks so pretty. Weeds are only weeds because someone decided they were!
    I love your photos.
