A rose by any other name ...
... would still be a rose. So I think we all know what these self-sown floral beauties really are.
They look so pretty in the bright spring sunshine, it seems wrong to go pull them out. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it).

I agree - a bit of colour never hurt anyone.
ReplyDeleteHow something so pretty be a noxious weed?
ReplyDeleteAn old adage I love: the difference between a flower and a weed is a judgement. x
ReplyDeleteMy old neighbors in Hawaii HATED me...I had these swaths of cascading vines covered in purple blossoms draped over my fence. Beautiful! But, technically, it was a weed. They hated me. :p
ReplyDeleteI recently helped my friend Oscar (two and a half) to collect dandelion clocks to put in a vase. He knows a flower when he sees one.
ReplyDeleteBTW: Your mission, if you choose to accept it: http://bellgirl.com.au/2008/10/todays-mission-eleven-things.html
I had a friend who loved her wandering jew, one of the most noxious weeds in Victoria, that grew rampantly in her backyard. She said it had such pretty flowers and was so good at keeping the other weeds out...!!!
ReplyDeleteBut yes, I always hate it when my dad gets out the lawnmower on the dandelions and little daiseys (although he has permission to get savage on the onion weed)
Caleb nearly lost conciousness the other day when he found a dandelion patch. You can't beat them!
ReplyDeleteI recognize all but the pink flower.
ReplyDeleteI love the group!
Yes, I have to admit I have the same beauties (and more!) in my garden. I agree with you - especially little lawn daisies.
ReplyDeleteWe leave ours in! We have lots of the yellow oxalis (sp?) and a white version as well. It looks so pretty. Weeds are only weeds because someone decided they were!
ReplyDeleteI love your photos.
I think that the mosaic's make everything look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI had similar pretty weeds until last week when Mr S mowed over them, now it looks abit sad without the colour in the grass..:(
ReplyDeleteWeeds, what? Some of these feature in my garden and I thought they were gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNow there is some very smart thinking.
ReplyDeletewell we have some of these too...the dandelions are about the same height as the kids:)
