My creative space
I am joining in with Thursday's My Creative Space at Kootoyoo.
This space has been a little quiet of late: a case of craft versus winter ails (craft has put up a valiant fight, but is punching above its weight).
Sitting awaiting some attention is a pristine brown moleskine book. It arrived from half a world away earlier this week and is part of The Sketchbook Project. The plan is to fill the little sketchbook over the next 6 months, before returning it to a vast collection (thousands of sketchbooks!) that will tour galleries and museums across the U.S. next year. The collection will then be permanently housed in The Brooklyn Art Library.
The theme I have chosen for my book is "Happy thoughts". Do you think a sketch of a large bottle of cough medicine is too obscure?
Thank you very much Kirsty for hosting My Creative Space. Its great fun seeing what everyone is doing. To see who else is showing their creative space today (or to join in), head over here.

The winter lurgies sure suck - I hear ya. Cant wait to see the HB happy thoughts in picture format over the next six months - make sure you share
ReplyDeleteOh that project sounds wonderful. I love your drawings and sketches so much, I hope you plan to share a bit of it with us.
ReplyDeleteHope very much too you feel better soon xo
What a great sounding project.
ReplyDeletenot too obscure at all :) I'm sure a lot of the sketchbooks will be full of obscure and odd things :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great - sorry, the art project not the lurgy.
ReplyDeleteI think such a prestigious project can only benefit from your version of obscure. I bet there are going to be loads of puppies and rainbows etc... a cough bottle and then craft taking place seems like a very happy thought!
Can't wait to see your new drawings!
Cheers,
AJ
PS er... maybe the book and the pencils should be kept under lock and key - otherwise it might be more 'original' than intended!
Sounds like a brilliant project to be involved with. The cough medicine might be rather relevant ... by the time the sketch book gets to the US it will be their cold and flu season.
ReplyDeleteBoo to the lurgy but yay to the Sketchbook Project. Sounds like fun! Maybe a sketch of a big foot stomping on lots of little flu bugs might fit the theme...
ReplyDeletehee hee - the cough medicine might be a little specific… but whatever makes you happy, right? Feel better!
ReplyDeleteThe sketchbook projects are real fun. I took part in a british one around 10 years ago it was excellent, I met some really nice people through that project. Enjoy!
ReplyDeletehow exciting, i Love sketching- it is one of my most favourite things to do!!
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better soon. This looks like a fantastic project to be a part of.
ReplyDeleteEven when you're sick, you're still witty and funny!! Nope, it's not too obscure, do it!
ReplyDeleteI think a bottle of cough syrup will be understood by all. :p
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not too obscure!! It sounds like a brilliant project - have lots of fun with it once the lurgies take a break :-)
