My creative space

I am joining in with Thursday's My Creative Space at Kootoyoo.

I have been left in the lurch to my own devices for a couple of weeks while Mr Hoppo Bumpo enjoys a junket travels overseas on business - so what better pick-me-up than a new* project?

*Its best that no-one enquires - no matter how politely - about the status of various other new projects that have been started. If you do, I shall have to point and exclaim look over there! while running in the other direction.

Tomorrow afternoon I am cutting these prints up into 5" x 5" charm squares under the watchful eye of a craft buddy. The aim is to refashion a favourite vintage bed sheet (and a supporting cast of print purchases) into a quilt top.

I'm looking for a quick win here; nothing fancy. Especially after a number of previous false starts with quilts. The aim is to have the quilt finished and displayed as a couch throw rug before Mr Hoppo Bumpo's return.

In our house there is a direct correlation between soft furnishing proliferation and days spent on business trips. If Mr HB thinks there might also be cushions in the pipeline, maybe he will call off his trip in July.

Thank you very much Kirsty for hosting My Creative Space. Its great fun seeing what everyone is doing. To see who else is showing their creative space today (or to join in), head over here.

  3. Tee Hee My husband works away a lot which is how my little jewellery hobby got so out of hand.
He came home one weekend to find 6 bracelets, 8 pairs of ear rings,7 pendants, several chokers... and suggested I find myself a craft fair.

  5. Good luck, if it all goes according to plan it will be a fabulous throw, judging by that fabric stack pictured.

  6. How funny, my husband loathes cushions too. Actually i have seen my brothers go to sit down on beautifully styled lounges their wives have plumped, only to watch them toss all the cushions on the floor!! What is it with men & cushions, or it only when they can't lie down with cushion under neck, because they're in polite company??
I'm on my own a lot, Army wife life etc, thus how my sewing started. I can sew my little heart out durind the day (children at school) or night (children asleep) & i go into my own little world, ahhhh, lovely. Happy quilting, love Posie

  7. I have a perfect, surefire July cancellation notion!

Throw pillow whatsits for the bed. You know the ones - the cushion thingies you have to hurl on to the floor and out of the way of sleep every night? When the weekend rolls around, you get to lounge back on them while eating breakfast in bed, like last you did in 1997.

You could threaten a veritable throwable MOUNTAIN.

  17. Given that your 'cheesy' friend has recently whipped up a quilt top in a day I would say you are in good hands!
Craft as a substitute for men - hmmm - to be considered!

  19. Good luck with the quilt... and don't forget to shop online everyday he is away for therapy. So so important to keep up with your therapy sessions when your partner abandons your for a junket. Also serves to deter future trips ;)
