I am joining in with Thursday's My Creative Space at Kootoyoo.
Clockwise from left:
- Embellishment in ribbon and denim
- Zipper waiting to be inserted
- Sketchy drafting for skirt facing
Not because its intricate. Or at all difficult. Its a simple A-line that I traced from another favourite and tweaked a little. The construction is dead easy and the denim is very nice to work with.
The embellishment is hardly anything to write home about. Just simple and fun.
So I have concluded I have been travelling slowly with this, just because I can. I'm enjoying the journey: a bit of picking up and putting down; a little mucking about here and there.
One day there will be a skirt.
Perhaps I will be the founding (and possibly only) member of the "Slow Sewing" movement?
Thank you very much Kirsty for hosting My Creative Space. Its great fun seeing what everyone is doing. To see who else is showing their creative space (or to join in), head over here.
I like the slow slowing movement. Your "maybe skirt" in progress looks terrific.
ReplyDeleteWell it's going to be a very pretty slow skirt.... I love a bit of embellishment bling.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how long it takes it will certainly be lovely!!! Looks good so far!!
ReplyDeleteI love the way pale stitching looks on dark denim,it's a gorgeous bit of embellishment.
ReplyDeleteThat embellishment is making me happy. As is the notion of 'slow sewing'. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh I would SO be in the slow sewing movement, and the slow cleaning movement, and the slow laundry folding movement....
ReplyDeleteI think you are seriously underestimating that embellishement!
ReplyDeleteabsolutely sure it will be worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the slow sewing movement. You should definitely start it. Not today though. Today just enjoy creating for fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the slow sewing movement. Unfortunately I am in fast fast fast sewing mode and I am breaking needles and swearing heaps along the way. I think your skirt looks lovely and will be worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteI would join you in the slow sewing notion - some of my projects are over a year old now. Eep!
ReplyDeleteYou have to say "slow sewing" really slowly or you end up slurring - this makes me giggle! I love the detail on your skirt - especially the grossgrain ribbon. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteLooking good. I wonder too if your "slow sewing" because it is for you. I always find when I'm sewing for my children I feel like I'm in a race with them getting to the next size before I finish!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for slow sewing lol I have sewing projects I've been working on for years, lots to finish but keep adding more projects anyway :p
ReplyDeleteOh Liesl, I'm a long standing member of the slow sewing movement. My application to the fast sewing movement was declined, naturally I blame it on my machine. ; )
ReplyDeleteSlow cooking. Slow living. Slow sewing. Ofcourse. I'm in! :-)
ReplyDeleteLoving the prettiness in the details.
ReplyDeleteThey do say that it's all about the journey, not the destination. :)
I like the way you have thought about this project and how you are approaching it.
ReplyDeleteAnd alright, I'll join your movement. I don't want you turning up to meetings without someone to take the minutes! xxx
Oh, no. You will absolutely NOT be the only member. I definitely should be in that club. In fact, maybe I should be the official slowest sewer ever. I've been sewing (mostly avoiding) a clothkit for about 6 weeks now. Still not finished!!
