Lunatic

Two sick boys. Another long day.

So after the two small ones were firmly ensconced in bed, I decided it was time for a little treat. Its been the most beautiful evening. Balmy with a soft breeze. The low hum of cicadas in the distance and crickets chirruping softly. The moon has been full and golden; rising through a soft haze of cloud.

At about 9pm I went outside and sat in the driveway. With my camera pointed skyward, I practised a little night-time photography. The moon was irresistible. I'm not a very good night-photographer - I don't have a steady hand or a tripod. I understand little about exposure and suchlike. I did, however, enjoy taking a few snaps.

But pity the poor man. The one who came to post a letter at the corner mailbox across the road. In the dark. Who turned to see the shadowy figure of a woman, crouched in the driveway opposite. The one seemingly pointing a camera at him. He scuttled away ever so quickly.

I have probably confirmed all his suspicions about the strange things that happen when there is a full moon.

  1. Now that is definitely funny! We have a double storey house next door and I often wonder if the neighbours are watching me taking weird pieces of craft outside in the backyard for photo shoots!

Hope your wee fellas are feeling better soon.

  4. What a gorgeous moon.

And my neighbors are always catching me in a huddle on the driveway, trying to snap something. Or draping clothes or bags all over the fence. Or trying to prop things on it. I am pretty sure they all think I am a loon.

  11. Isn't that the mark of a craft blogger? All of her neighbours think she's odd for her antics at 'styling' photoshoots on the natures strip/ verandah / park bench / hoods of parked cars / dog / neighbours' children / innocent mail-posting men / etc...

    Best wishes to the boys!

  12. Hope the boys are feeling better! The poor guy, although I'm often caught out taking photos of odd things (like one evening I spent ages photographing a cicada that was just hatching and spreading its wings on some guy's fence... and then he came home). What camera do you have?

  13. Phhhhh - you and me both. I'm the one that comes out of the car carrying a torch, caught by a neighbour of the bin. Like a rabbit in headlights, I fumble trying to act like I belong there.. Which meant popping the boot, texting someone (or at least pretending) then climbing back in the car and driving away. Hmm. An iguana I am not.
