Actually our postman never has a chance to make it near the doorbell, let alone the mailbox. We have developed a little ritual of standing at the front gate; Argy and Bargy waving frantically at our postie, as he wends his way down the street. Then we personally take receipt of the delivery.
Our postie is such a nice chap. He always stops to chat with the boys; evenly dividing the post between them to carry inside.
Its a pity he thinks that we are standing at the gate for the sake of the boys.
You see its me who can hear the postie's little motorbike from a mile away. Tis I, who is excited about what might be in the post. How I do love a nice parcel in the mail. In lean times, I have to console myself with the odd catalog or newsletter. And more and more I am finding myself battling the urge to order things online, just for the thrill of waiting for them to arrive.
This week, however, I was in luck. I received the Amitie mail-out - which comprised these three beautiful pieces of Anna Maria Horner's Garden Party collection. I'm still deciding how to use them, but I may just need to mail-order a little something to get a project started ...
This has been my therapy lately. I order lovely fabric online and wait for it to come to my mailbox. I have had a package or 2 coming every week for the past little while.
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on the mail thing - it is first thing I check when I get home from work!! I received my first Amitie mail out this week too - can't wait to incorporate it in a project!!WEll done ont he awesome crocheting - looks like you have the bug now!!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously ?
ReplyDeleteWhat if it's cold and raining ?
I've been known to let mail sit out there all day and let the husb bring it in when he gets home :p
I'm with you on this one.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I came home to a collection card. I have no idea what the parcel could be - there are a couple of things I have ordered. It's awful, that excitement is too much. I can't pick up my parcel til Monday lunch time. How will I possibly survive?!
Love gorgeous arrivals in the letterbox. This week wasn't so ncie though...I got the electricity bill which subsequently means no online shopping for a few weeks! yuk.
ReplyDeleteI actually had the parcel delivery lady ask my husband what all the packages for Japan and America were. I think she thought I must of been the new drug lord in the area. With 2 little kids it s much easier to form a love affair with the postman, saves petrol too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the crochet offer once you hone your skills.
Oooh nice! I love it too when Mr Postman brings me parcels. Even better when it is fabric or crafty related items. Makes my day.
ReplyDeleteI love buying fabric I am not even big on sewing but I love vivid color I like those fabrics and you should see Robin Pandolphs fabrics as well they're so beautiful and they kind of remind me of Cath Kidston's shabby chic style except the colors are not faded. And thanks for the help with my sidebar, I will be getting to that soon, its on my list. Take care MOna
ReplyDeleteAh, yes. The sound of the motorbike gets the heart racing! I also received the Amitie mail out - gorgeous stuff!
ReplyDeletehaha I thought I was the only one who got so excited about the postie! The neighbours must think I'm a bit strange when they see my head poking out from the behind the curtains to see if it's the postie coming down the hill.
ReplyDeleteIt's so exciting waiting for fabric! I'm waiting on three lots at present (although I talked myself out of the Anna Maria Horner and into Heather Bailey instead.. looking at yours I now wonder if I made the right choice!)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you make!
Dude...that excuse is only going to work for another couple years...it looks a little funny standing there waiting for the mail with a couple of surly teens standing with you!!! :p Better start working on plan B!
