I spend a lot of time reading other people's blogs and admiring - perhaps even ogling - the amazing craft projects that they do with their children. The wonderful, creative, fulfilling things they do.
Now I have good intentions; I really do. Especially this week. The boys have been unwell and we are house-bound.
But what is the likelihood of producing something beautiful, when we start out with a misunderstanding of this magnitude?
OOhhhh crafting with boys - Don't you just love it. It is more bob the builder than Playschool.
ReplyDeleteHa Ha... obviously very creative children :)
ReplyDeleteAs sexist as it sounds, imh experience, girls stand and paint and boys do totally unexpected things with ...well with most anything!
ReplyDelete(btw, I'll give you a call at view 5000 so you can add 1! Thanks!)
So it's not an easel....it's a mini cubbyhouse!
ReplyDeleteVery amusing! You definitely have yourself some right side of the brain creatives there!
ReplyDelete*snicker* It's called thinking outside the box, doncha know.
ReplyDeleteThe other way to go, is to set up crafts in their interests. You know, like my boy...he is an amazing little miniaturist...he assembles and paints the most amazing little miniatures, with the perfect dripping blood, decapitated heads, bolt blast scars...you know, boy stuff!!! :p
I have the same easel and my sons do the same thing! I got my sons to paint and draw on the easel by painting on it myself and telling them that I am going to paint them a picture, once I get started they tell me its their turn and screams of "mines!" are shouted and I get out off their way. Oh and you can put a sheet over it and have a nice house too. I love that picture and thanks for the comment over at my blog
ReplyDeleteHee hee - such a great photo, says so much. Love it.
ReplyDeleteFunny!! And a great photo!!
ReplyDeleteoh funny. I had a similar situation today...a stand-up wooden toy with activities on each side. Instead of playing with any of the blocks, clocks, balls he climbed through the wooden stand from one side to the other and continued to do this for about 20mins. Genius I say
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious. I predict they will be excellent artists as they aren't constrained by conventiality. That's what I'd be telling myself.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. I love the little slippered feet sticking out.
ReplyDeletelol love it. I am like you too, full of good intentions. But we will get there and then they'll be telling us to buzz off when we want to be a helper in their high school art class.
ReplyDeleteYou should be proud of your children who think "out of the box". Too cute!
ReplyDeleteOh Houston, we seem to have a problem.
ReplyDeleteA rocket ship? a car? maybe a train - very clever and way less messy!
